The 7th Castellorizo ​​International Documentary Film Festival opens this month

The 7th Castellorizo ​​International Documentary Film Festival “Across borders” will open its curtain on August 21.

The film festival will take place on the island of Castellorizo ​​from August 21 to 28.

The opening film of this year’s event will be the 2020 IDFA Award-winning ‘X-Ray of a Family’ by acclaimed director Firouzeh Khosrovani.

It is a film of experimental cinematic form and fluid audiovisual representations set against the backdrop of the Iranian revolution of the late 1970s. In the film, Khosrovani tells a love story that separates when personal and individual desires no longer converge.

During the ceremony, the photographic exhibition “Attic Land Welcomes 22 Refugees” will also be inaugurated. The exhibition is organized by the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliament and Democracy.

The opening ceremony will close with a musical performance devoted to Hellenism. Through Smyrnaic, Rebetiko and Pontic song, a musical feast full of melodies is promised, reminding us that the music we have today is not just a combination of sounds and rhythms but of memories, feelings and experiences of joy and pain of an entire people.
