Gucci’s Cinematic Short Pays Tribute to Film Maestro Stanley Kubrick | Advertising

Gucci has entered the enveloping universe of Stanley Kubrick in a new campaign for its Fall/Winter 2022 collection, which features a surprise collaboration with Adidas.

Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, “Exquisite” draws deep from the director’s archives to reimagine Kubrick’s pioneering work, scene by scene, including models that resemble famous people.

An ode to A clockwork orangethe cinematic short opens with a gang of unruly “droog” models racing down a street, while the opening sequence of 2001: A Space Odyssey plays.

Switching things up, the scene shifts to the epic sci-fi flick, as the music revamps to A clockwork orange theme.

Like flipping through a photo book of film stills, the short continues to re-enact famous scenes from other films, including Barry Lyndon and The brilliant.

The film was filmed and directed by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with art direction by Christopher Simmonds.

Milena Canonero and Charlotte Walter curated the replicas of the original costumes.

“I have always been charmed by the cinema. For its power to tell stories that can probe human adventure and its drift,” said Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

He continues: “I have always imagined my collections as films capable of conveying a cinematography of the present: around twenty stories, eclectic and dissonant, which can sanctify the human being and his metamorphic capacity.
