Matthew Hehl (left) and Jay Jondro hold a copy of the Goodfellow Paper which will be sold for any amount at the annual Monroe Goodfellow sale to be held Friday and Saturday by members of the Monroe Exchange Club and Monroe Council 1266, Knights of Columbus. Lamour Printing printed this year’s paper, which features a drawing of a newspaper vendor peddling a newspaper with the headline “Over a Century of Helping the Needy in Monroe County.” Hehl leads the charity campaign for the Exchange while Jondro does the same for the Knights. Volunteers from both clubs will be bundled up and standing outside in the cold, wearing red newspaper bags around their necks to collect donations. The bulk of the sale will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at street corners and shopping areas in downtown Monroe and the townships of Frenchtown and Monroe. The tri-fold paper will contain reader information and photos collected by Bill McCloskey and Jondro, including a photo of Exchange members from 1933.
Proceeds from the sale will be used by both organizations to bring in food and holiday cheer for Christmas and to help families in need throughout the coming year.
