LUCKNOW: A widely shared photo of Samajwadi Party Patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Mohan Bhagwat in the same frame ruffled many feathers in political halls in Uttar Pradesh.

The photograph of the wedding reception for Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s granddaughter led to the Twitter war between Congress and the SP on Tuesday. It all started with the social media managers of the Congressional UP Unit. Sharing the image, Congress wrote in Hindi that the “S” of the new PS stands for “Sanghvad”. Shortly afterwards, the UP BJP also stepped in and shared the similar picture by writing a “picture talks a lot”.

Breaking his silence on the meeting, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav agreed that “Netaji” (Mulayam) had met Bhagwat at a reception in Delhi. He criticized Congress for misinterpreting the discussion. “Congress is trying to present the picture in a weird way. What do they know about the discussions on the couch? Maybe Netaji (Mulayam) said ‘Babaji goes from UP’ (to Bhagwat), ”Akhilesh said.

However, the UP Congress noted that luckily SP had agreed to meet with Bhagwat that Congress wanted to know before the elections. Hours later, the SP retaliated by sharing another photo of Mulayam exchanging jokes with NCP leader Sharad Pawar and his daughter, claiming Congress had forgotten political etiquette.
