The T20 World Cup kicks off on Sunday with Sri Lanka taking on Namibia in the qualifiers. Ahead of the tournament opening, all the captains of the 16 participating teams were captured in frame as they attended ‘Captain’s Day’ where they spoke to the media about the showpiece event and their teams’ preparations respective. The official handle of ICC has shared the photo of all the captains in one frame.

“All 16 captains in one frame,” ICC tweeted.

The Super 12 leg kicks off on October 22 with Australia taking on New Zealand. On October 23, arch-rivals India and Pakistan will face off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) previously confirmed that the team that takes home glory at the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on November 13 in Melbourne will take home a check for $1.6 million.

The total pot of $5.6 million will see runners-up secured $800,000 and losing semi-finalists awarded $400,000 each at the end of the 45-match tournament which will take place at seven venues in Australia from October 16.

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are confirmed to start their tournament at the Super 12 stadium.

The same structure is in place for first-round wins – with $40,000 available for those who win each of the 12 matches, or $480,000.

The four teams eliminated in the first round will receive 40,000 USD each.


The teams whose campaigns start in the first round are Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Scotland, West Indies and Zimbabwe.
