On Sunday, Bihar MP BJP Rashmi Varma announced her resignation from the State Assembly for “personal reasons”. She shared on social media a photo of herself bearing a handwritten note to the President.

“I am voluntarily resigning from my post in the Legislative Assembly of Bihar for personal reasons. Will be happy if you accept my resignation letter, ”his note said.

Reacting to the same, Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal said the MP made the decision “on impulse” and was arrested before she could deliver the letter to President Vijay Kumar Sinha. She was persuaded to retract in the same way, he said.

“It should be made clear that she made the decision on a whim, reacting to a family feud with no political angle to the episode,” Jaiswal said in a PTI report.

UPTET PAPER LEAK CONNECTION

Last month, the brother of Narkatiaganj MP Rashmi Varma, Anoop Prasad, was arrested in connection with the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test Paper Leak Case. Anoop Prasad has a printing house in Delhi.

At the time, she distanced herself from the affair by claiming to belong to her husband’s family after the wedding. After Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra pointed out the connection between Anoop Prasad and Rashmi Varma, the Bihar MP urged her not to target “little political workers like me”.

FAMILY QUESTION?

According to Bihar BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal, Rashmi Varma is engaged in a real estate dispute with her late husband’s brothers. The family owns the Shikarpur estate in the West Champaran district.

“She took the plunge in a fit of rage after someone on the other side made a sarcastic remark about her political stance,” Jaiswal said.

“The chapter is closed. She has agreed to settle the case with her relatives while serving as a member of Parliament,” he added.
