Kingshill House is a vibrant arts and crafts venue, based in the Cotswold town of Dursley. Billing itself as inspiring, creative and for everyone, the arts center’s summer 2022 program is packed with workshops ranging from meditative weaving to loom to oil painting, with something to suit, inspire and stimulate any creation.

From berry basket making to stained glass workshops, Kingshill House in Dursley has a selection of activities to try during its summer school program – Monday 11th to Friday 15th July 2022.

1. Floral Wreath Workshops at Kingshill House

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make your own floral crown with fresh, seasonal flowers, then the Floral Summer Crowns workshop at Kingshill House is for you. As well as being relaxing, the workshop will provide participants with the skills and techniques to create their own beautiful creations, ideal for weddings and summer parties, or just for fun!

The Floral Summer Crowns workshop takes place on Monday July 11, 2022 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and costs £28 per person.


2. Stained Glass Workshops at Kingshill House

From seagulls and boats to fish and lighthouses, make your own sea-themed suncatcher with the Introduction to Stained Glass Workshop – A Seaside Suncatcher at Kingshill House.

Suitable for beginners and the more experienced, the workshop takes place on Monday 11 July 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £85.50 per person, including all materials and a nice suncatcher to take home.


3. Screen printing workshops at Kingshill House

Suitable for all abilities, a one-day screen printing course gives participants the chance to learn the simple – yet effective – technique of producing varied prints from a single stencil.

Screen printing with paper cut stencils takes place on Monday July 11, 2022 and costs £42, with all materials included for attendees to create their own t-shirt and bag designs to take home.


4. Basketry workshops at Kingshill House

Fruit picking season has officially arrived – and what better way to celebrate than by making your own rustic picking basket! Kingshill House runs an introductory course in basket weaving, offering participants the opportunity to create and take home a lovely frame-style berry basket.

The Rustic Willow Berry Basket course takes place on Tuesday July 12, 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £65 per person. The cost of the workshop includes all materials, as well as refreshments and a light lunch.


5. Loom weaving workshops at Kingshill House

Take time to reflect and relax as you learn the ancient craft of weaving at Kingshill House. In addition to its meditative qualities, artisans will learn techniques to create beautiful decorative items for their homes.

The Meditative Loom Weaving Class takes place on Wednesday July 13, 2022 from 1-3pm, priced at £62 per person. The cost of the course will cover all materials including fibers and wools such as soft twine, merino and alpaca wool and fabric strips.


6. Ceramic workshops at Kingshill House

From jewelery holders and trinkets to dishes for serving nibbles, participants in the Nature in Ceramics course at Kingshill House will learn how to make their own nature-themed ceramic pieces using locally grown and picked plants printed in the art. ‘clay.

The Nature in Ceramics course takes place on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 1pm to 3.30pm, priced at £68 per person. Attendees will have plenty of plants to choose from, but visitors are also encouraged to bring locally grown or responsibly harvested greenery.


7. Gong Immersion Workshops at Kingshill House

Prepare to be totally relaxed with a gong immersion session at Kingshill House – beginning with yoga breathing practices, followed by asanas and gentle stretching, all accompanied by the meditative sounds of the gong.

Gong Immersion takes place on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm and costs £8 per person. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, bring a blanket or yoga mat to lie on, and anything to make themselves comfortable.


8. Cyanotype workshops at Kingshill House

Learn about the art of cyanotype – the slow-reacting, economical photographic printing technique that was one of the first photographic processes. During this one-day course, budding photographers will create eco-responsible botanical prints using the sun or a UV light source.

The Botanical Cyanotype Workshop takes place on Thursday July 14, 2022 from 1-4pm and costs £42 per person – covering the cost of all materials.


9. Woodcut workshops at Kingshill House

Reform IT

Covering everything from image design to practical skills, attendees can produce their own woodcut stamp and print beautiful designs to take home in this full-day workshop.

The Introductory Woodcut Workshop takes place on Friday July 15, 2022 from 10am to 4pm and costs £58 per person, including the cost of all materials, plus refreshments and a light lunch.
